qualification is available to non-financial
professionals enabling them to get to grips

The
essential features of the ACCA Certified Diploma
in Financial Management are explained here.
This new scheme reflects extensive consultation
with leading employers, members, students and
tuition providers throughout the world ensuring
that the Diploma in Financial Management is
a flexible and dynamic programme designed to
help business managers achieve their fullest
potential. To reflect their requirements it
places greater emphasis on Financial Strategy
and introduces Risk Management, while still
retaining core financial skills in Interpretation
of Financial Statements and Performance Management.
Building
on the strengths of the previous Certified Diploma
in Accounting & Finance, the new Diploma
in Financial Management features the following
innovations:

- exam and project-based Assessment Modules
The
previous Certified Diploma in Accounting and
Finance syllabus will be examined up to and
including December 2001. The new Diploma in
Financial Management scheme is available now
and will be first examined in June 2002.
Information
about the Diploma in Financial Management
Many
non-accountants are daunted by the thought of
managing budgets, making financial decisions
or simply understanding the language of finance.
The
ACCA Diploma in Financial Management provides
the practical knowledge you need to take the
fear out of accounting and ensure confident
participation in financial discussions.
This
new qualification is aimed at middle and senior
managers with financial responsibility. The
programme can be completed in one year however,
provided the ACCA subscription is paid each
year, registered students may take as long as
they need to study the material, sit the examinations
and submit their projects. Additionally, provided
the appropriate fees are paid, there is no limit
to the number of times a candidate may attempt
the examination or project element of the Diploma.
Based
on ACCA’s highly successful Certified Diploma
in Accounting and Finance, which has been completed
by nearly 10,000 managers worldwide, the Diploma
has an established reputation. Many of these
managers have taken advantage of the qualification’s
postgraduate status to gain advanced standing
towards MBAs and other masters qualifications.
The
Diploma covers a range of key areas, including
how to interpret financial statements, plan,
manage and measure performance using budgets
and other financial techniques, make financial
decisions and manage all kinds of financial
risk.

CDipFM
Entry Requirements
The
minimum entry requirement for the Diploma is
an ACCA recognised Degree, Higher National Certificate
(HNC) / Diploma (HND) and/or membership of a
non-accounting professional body.
Individuals
who do not hold these qualifications may be
admitted on the basis of their work experience.
In these circumstances, you are normally required
to be at least 23 years old and you should be
able to demonstrate, with an employer’s reference,
that the Diploma will be relevant to your work.
If you are self-employed, a reference from an
accountant, solicitor/attorney or bank manager
will be required.
No
exemptions are awarded from the Diploma in Financial
Management, irrespective of the qualifications
held.

EXAMINATION
CENTRES
ACCA operates over 200 examination centres in
more than 140 countries at each examination
session. Special facilities can be arranged
for disabled students, and where appropriate
- for example in remote areas or where religion
places restrictions on attendance at regular
examination centres - ACCA will consider requests
to set up alternative examination centres but
this may attract an additional fee.
